Grand Forks Search & Rescue is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization registered with Emergency Management British Columba (EMBC). We are usually activated by the RCMP, BC Ambulance Service, Fire Rescue Service, the BC Coroner Service, or any local/regional Emergency Operations Center.
Our team members are unpaid professionals on call 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, at no cost to the subjects we rescue.
More information on Search and Rescue in British Columbia available here: http://www.bcsara.com/about/sar-in-bc/
We serve the Boundary area of BC from Bridesville in the west to the Paulson Bridge on the east and from the Canada/US border in the south up towards Big White and into the upper Kettle and Granby Valleys.
Our volunteer members are trained in:
- Ground Search & Rescue (GSAR)
- Helicopter Operations
- Swiftwater Rescue
- Flat Ice Rescue
- Organized Avalanche Response (OAR)
We focus on training to keep our members skilled and prepared.
We work closely with other nearby SAR teams so that we’re familiar with each other and compliment each other when a larger response is needed.
Regularly scheduled training is on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
